Hickson, widow of the late William "Dub" Turner Hickson, Jr. Mrs. Hickson was the daughter of the late John Willie Thomas and the late Caroline Mae Jayroe Thomas. She was born on June 10, 1917, the sixth of nine children. She and Dub were married on December 26, 1935 until his death on July 31, 1980. Read More	On May 2, 2019 God gained another Angel, Hazel T. Hickson, widow of the late William "Dub" Turner Hickson, Jr. Mrs. Hickson was the daughter of the late John Willie Thomas and the late Caroline Mae Jayroe Thomas. She was born on June 10, 1917, the sixth of nine children. She and Dub were married on December 26, 1935 until his death on July 31, 1980. Mrs. Hickson was born, raised, and married in Georgetown County. After 50 years, she and her husband moved to Horry County. She was a member of North Conway Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook, and above all she had an open door policy for all. In addition to her husband of 45 years, Mrs. Hickson was predeceased by five brothers, Laurie Thomas, Clyde Thomas, Marion Thomas, John Willie Thomas, Jr., and Paul Thomas; four sisters, Callie Newton, Cleo Newton, Nita Mae Boudreaux, and Opal Thomas; and two sons in law, Frederick Clayton Foster and William Francis Jackson. Surviving are one son, William Thomas Hickson, Sr. (Louanne) of Union, SC; one daughter, Helen Hickson Jackson of Union, SC; four grandchildren, William "Will" Thomas Hickson, II (Robyn) of Spartanburg, SC, Hope Hickson Wilbanks (Wes) of Union, SC, Charles Clayton "Clay" Hickson ( Becky) of Rock Hill, SC, and Al Smith of Conway, SC; two great grandsons, Devin Wilbanks and Wyatt Wilbanks, both of Union, SC; three great granddaughters, Carson Hickson and Libby Hickson, both of Spartanburg, SC and Emma Claire Hickson of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters-in-law, Mable Hickson Riddle of Lugoff, SC and Frances Thomas of Conway; one brother-in-law, Tommy Hickson (Belva) of Sumter, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 5, 2019 at North Conway Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Gaskins and Mr. Irvin Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM-2:45 PM prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tara Hall for Boys, PO Box 955, Georgetown, SC.
