Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Odebolt, with the Rev. Kathy Spracklin officiating. Burial will be in Odebolt Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present after 6 p.m., at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt. Hazel was born March 31, 1912, to Julius and Vernal (Baker) Brucker. She grew up on a farm near Arthur, Iowa, and graduated from Arthur High School in 1929. She was united in marriage to Willard I. Raasch on Dec. 18, 1930, at the Methodist parsonage in Deloit, Iowa. They made their home on a farm north of Odebolt for almost 50 years. Two daughters were born to this union, Genevieve and Thelma. Hazel was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, reading and sewing. In September 1980, the couple moved to Morningside in Sioux City. Willard passed away in December 1992. In July 2004, Hazel moved to her daughter Genevieve Schrunk's residence in Mapleton. She had resided at Maple Heights Nursing Home since October 31, 2005. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Genevieve) Schrunk of Mapleton, and Mrs. Floyd (Thelma) Nelson of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; a great-great-grandson; four great-great-stepgrandchildren; a brother-in-law, Cleo Perkins of Holstein, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Betty Raasch of Odebolt; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and two brothers.
