Description	:	August was the 5th of 6 children born to Friedrich Wilhelm and Engel Maria Sophia nee Windheim Schweer. His parents married in 1866 in Lindhorst, Germany, and it was in Germany that the oldest two children were born. They then immigrated to America, settling in Will County, Illinois near Crete. The remainder of the four children were born there. August's father actually died before his last child was born in October 1874. His widow re-married in 1877 to Christian August Rohr. His parents married in 1866 in Lindhorst, Germany, and it was in Germany that the oldest two children were born. They then immigrated to America, settling in Will County, Illinois near Crete. The remainder of the four children were born there. August's father actually died before his last child was born in October 1874. His widow re-married in 1877 to Christian August Rohr. They had three children before they came to Saline County, Nebraska. August married Anna Sophia Philipine Bartels on January 6, 1898 at Zion Lutheran Church south of Tobias, Nebraska. They settled into farming in the area of the church. They had five children: 1. Agnes Sophia Engel (1901-1988) 2. Arthur August (b. about 1905) 3. Alfred Friedrich Heinrich (1907-1986) 4. Arina or Irene (b. abt. Jan. 1911) and 5. Arnold Herman Christian (1913-1915). August reportedly died from gallstones, leaving his widow to raise their four older children. The oldest daughter, Agnes, went to Ritzville, Washington and there married a Fred Schwisow Jr, who had come from the same area in Nebraska as Agnes. At some point in the 1920's, his widow too at least son Arnold to Ritzville to rejoin Agnes. August is buried in the "Old" or first Zion cemetery along with his youngest son, Arnold.
