In 1874 he came to this country and at once settled in Seward county, Nebraska, about three miles east of Garland. In the following year he was joined in holy wedlock with Emilie, nee Plautz, who, however, preceded him in death about four years ago. The deceased's marriage was blessed with four children, one son and three daughters. Formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran church near Malcolm, he moved with his wife about 13 years ago into the environments of the Garland church, which he joined and in which he retained his membership up to the time of his death. Early in the fall of last year he went to Iowa to spend the winter months with his children, expecting to return to Nebraska again in the spring. However, his plans were not realized. About March 15th he became ill. His condition grew worse, and sooner than anyone expected, he passed away, as we have reason to believe in the faith of the Savior, on the morning of March 18 at about 4:30 o'clock. The body was sent to Garland for burial, which took place last Thursday afternoon in Trinity Lutheran church at Garland, the Rev. T. Jockel officiating. Mr. Brauer attained the age of 79 years, 6 months and 4 days, and leaves to mourn his departure four children, as follows: Anna, wife of John Bootjer, Cumberland, Iowa; Clara, wife of John Ortgies, Messina, Iowa; Henry of Pleasant Dale, Nebr.; Emilie, wife of Henry Eilts, Wiota, Iowa; three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, ; nineteen grandchildren; four brothers, Fritz of Sidney, Nebr.; Clamor of Kenesaw, Nebr.; John of Thompson Falls, Mont.; Ernst of Malcolm, Nebr.; three sisters, Anna Lange of Lincoln, Nebr.; Clara Ehlers of Washington; Louise Inselmann of Amherst, Nebr., and other relatives. Seward Independent Democrat, Seward, NE, Thurs, March 28, 1929 Peter Keller, Peter Kizer, Henry Brauer, Karl Koch, Claus Katt and August Bruse, members of the "Deutsche Land Wehr Verein," veterans of the German war, departed for Omaha on Saturday, to attend a convention of that society.
