Services were in charge of the Rev. H. L. Adix, with burial at the local cemetery. Freese entered St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, on October 6; and was brought to the local hospital on October 25. On the evening of October 31 he passed away. Heinrich Freese was born in Langstrasse, Reepshold, Hannover, Germany, on October 3, 1868, the son of Dirk and Anna (Hinrichs) Freese. He was baptized and confirmed a member of the Lutheran church in Germany. At the age of 16 he came to this country. He travelled to Iowa to get his first farming job, and for two years was employed by Henry Hayen. On November 11, 1890, he was married to Auguste Wilhelmine Peters and in the same year started farming for himself. In 1894 he bought a farm five miles northeast of Monticello and in 1912 he purchased the adjoining farm, where he lived his lifetime, with the exception of one and a half years spent in Monticello in 1925 and 1926. Mrs. Freese preceded her husband in death by exactly five weeks. He is survived by three children, Anna (Mrs. William Matthiessen), Gerhard, and Elisa (Mrs. Ernest Wahl); one brother, Dietrich, at Amber; and nine grandchildren. One son, John, died several years ago.
