Services were conducted at the Freese home on the county line preceding the church ceremony with Rev. H.L. Adix officiating. Mr. Freese died at 2 a.m. Saturday, death being precipitated by a case of flu. For 16 years, Mr. Freese had been unable to sit in an erect position because of an abnormal hip. Pain and lack of exercise had left him almost merely a living skeleton. Born in Bowen's Prairie March 6, 1894, he lived on the Freese homestead, just across the road from the home in which his family now resides, until his marriage to Elizabeth Elmina Behrends, December 27, 1923. Two children are living, Lillian and Loren, at home. Besides his wife, survivors include also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Freese, a brother, Gerhard, and two sisters, Mrs. Will Matthiessen and Mrs. Ernest Wahl, all of Monticello. Mr. Freese was baptized March 31, 1894, and confirmed April 4, 1909. During his invalidism, he came to church and listened to Rev. Adix's sermon through earphones while lying in the car.
