Description	:	Helen A. Johnson, 80, a former Le Mars resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at the Morningside Care Center in Alcester, S.D. Helen Agnes Johnson was born Feb. 22, 1922, on a farm near Merrill, the daughter of John and Katherine (Borchers) Ohlrichs. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Johnson, Township, rural Merrill. She attended country school and later graduated from Le Mars High School in 1939. Helen Agnes Johnson was born Feb. 22, 1922, on a farm near Merrill, the daughter of John and Katherine (Borchers) Ohlrichs. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Johnson, Township, rural Merrill. She attended country school and later graduated from Le Mars High School in 1939. Prior to her marriage she worked at Koehler Abstract Company in Le Mars. Helen and Walter John Johnson were united in marriage Dec. 11, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Struble, prior to moving to the Johnson homestead in Preston Township, Plymouth County. They farmed there for several years. Walter died March 15, 1975, and Helen remained on the farm for two years before moving to Le Mars. She was then employed with Athens Real Estate. Helen suffered a stroke in the fall of 1985. She moved to the Morningside Care Center in Alcester, S.D., on Jan. 24, 1986, where she had resided since. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars, and served in various positions in church organizations throughout the years. She enjoyed flower gardening and yard work. She also belonged to card groups and enjoyed visiting with others. Survivors include her son-in-law, Glen Klemme of Akron; a granddaughter, Jodi Klemme of Vermillion, S.D., a grandson, Deacon Klemme, and his wife, Kendra, of St. Paul, Minn., and a granddaughter, Kendal Zoeller and her husband, Matt, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a great-granddaughter, Mya Zoeller of Sioux Falls, S.D.: two sisters, Dorothy Dirks of Hawarden, and Bernice Less and her husband, Robert, of Le Mars; and a brother, Donald Ohlrichs and his wife, Ruth, of Le Mars. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Donna Klemme who died Jan. 20, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
