Description	:	Helen Augusta (she used Augusta as her everyday name) was born in New York and came to Iowa with her family in the 1850s, where they first settled in Floyd County. As a young woman, she married James Hall and they lived in Chickasaw, Iowa. They had two children during the 1860s; both of them died very young. Helen and James divorced about 1870; he later remarried. In 1877 Augusta married Seth Sanford in Nashua, Chickasaw, Iowa. Seth had also come from New York to Iowa with his family. Read More	Helen Augusta (she used Augusta as her everyday name) was born in New York and came to Iowa with her family in the 1850s, where they first settled in Floyd County. As a young woman, she married James Hall and they lived in Chickasaw, Iowa. They had two children during the 1860s; both of them died very young. Helen and James divorced about 1870; he later remarried. In 1877 Augusta married Seth Sanford in Nashua, Chickasaw, Iowa. Seth had also come from New York to Iowa with his family. Augusta and Seth lived in Nashua, then later moved to Mitchell and Buena Vista. They had one son, Harry. Augusta was also stepmother to Seymour and Howard, Seth's sons from an earlier marriage. During the early years of their marriage, Seth worked as a stock dealer and grain merchant in Iowa. Later, with his brother Scott, he became involved in mining ventures in Montana and Colorado, while Augusta remained in Iowa and nearby South Dakota. Seth died in Colorado in 1908 while visiting his son Harry, who was working as a barber there. Augusta was living with her son in Mason City, Iowa when she died 2 years later. Although there is a plot for him in Nashua, Seth was buried in Colorado. Their son Harry died in California but is buried in Nashua. Augusta's parents and her two little children with her first husband are also buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, as well as other family members of both Augusta and Seth.
