Description	:	ANSON - Helen B. Lynds, 94, died in Waterville on Nov. 14, 2011. She was born May 27, 1917, in West Mills, the daughter of Elvira (Nichols) and Lynn Sterry. Elvira died in 1918, and at her request, Helen went to live with John and Zuella Sterry in Starks. She remained with them until she married. Mr. Sterry passed away when Helen was 9 years old. While living in Starks, she attended schools there and in Madison. She also attended the church in Starks, the Progressive Club and the Starks Grange. She remained a member of the Starks Grange... Read More	ANSON - Helen B. Lynds, 94, died in Waterville on Nov. 14, 2011. She was born May 27, 1917, in West Mills, the daughter of Elvira (Nichols) and Lynn Sterry. Elvira died in 1918, and at her request, Helen went to live with John and Zuella Sterry in Starks. She remained with them until she married. Mr. Sterry passed away when Helen was 9 years old. While living in Starks, she attended schools there and in Madison. She also attended the church in Starks, the Progressive Club and the Starks Grange. She remained a member of the Starks Grange for 55 years before it folded. Then she transferred her membership to the Kennebec Valley Grange and went on to receive her 65-year certificate. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Lynds; parents Lynn and Elvira Sterry; brother Raymond Sterry; sister Althea Rackliff; son Ronald Adams; and son-in-law Charles Higgins. She is survived by her three children, William Lynds and wife Jan of Anson, Colleen Higgins of Waterville, and Rodney Adams and wife Fayelene of New Sharon; daughter-in-law Joanne Adams of Anson; brother, Lynn Sterry Jr. of Weld; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Athearn Cemetery, Anson. (Morning Sentinel 11/16/2011)
