Description	:	ANSON -- Ronald L. Adams went to be with the Lord and his angels on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his home in Anson with his loving wife at his side. Read More	ANSON -- Ronald L. Adams went to be with the Lord and his angels on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. He passed away peacefully at his home in Anson with his loving wife at his side. Ron fought a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer. Ron was born Aug. 6, 1937, at home in Starks. He attended Starks schools and graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1956. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served as jet engine mechanic. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Conn., working on jet engines. On Nov. 7, 1960, he married Joanne (Marquis) at the First Congregational Church in East Hartford, Conn. He later worked for Turbo Power and Marine Systems, a Division of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He traveled and worked installing gas turbines. He also worked for Union Carbide of East Hartford until they moved out of state. He moved to Storrs, Conn., and worked for American White Cross in Dayville, Conn., for 17 years as a machine mechanic; later he worked as a machine mechanic for United Abrasives in Willimantic, Conn., retiring in 2001. Following retirement he and his wife Joanne moved back to Maine and made their home in Anson. Ron loved life, his family, the great outdoors and the Maine woods. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding his ATV. He so enjoyed his fishing trips with his family and friends to Henderson Pond, Bulldog and his trips to Parlin Pond with his wife Joanne. His greatest passion was cutting firewood for his home in Connecticut and his home in Maine. He also cut firewood for his friend Andy in Willington, Conn. Ron was always working hard and he loved working in the woods. He was always complimented on his neat wood piles. Every stick had to be just so. Only Ron could stack such a meticulous wood pile. After moving back to Maine, Ron loved helping his brother Bill, cutting wood and working in Bill's hayfields in Starks. He loved driving the tractors, raking and tedding the hay and operating the 416 plowing snow. He so looked forward to every year, he was in his glory. He loved watching the Red Sox, The New England Patriots and the UConn men's and women's basketball teams. Ron was a lifetime member of the Willington Fish and Game Club in Willington. He spent many happy hours there with his special friends and buddies. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Joanne, his loving daughter, Pamela Adams of North Carolina, his loving granddaughter, Tara Hiltz of North Carolina, and his loving grandson, Kory Hiltz of North Carolina, he loved them all dearly; his loving mother, Helen B. Lynds of Anson; brother Rodney C. Adams and his wife, Faylene, of New Sharon; brother, William Lynds and his wife, Jan, of Anson; sister Colleen Higgins of Waterville; a dear aunt, Lois Adams of Farmington; his in-laws, Sandra Frost of Venice, Fla., Bruce and Sharon Blanchard of Wilton, and Paul and Roxanne Marquis of Augusta; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ron will be deeply missed by all his family, his special friends from Connecticut and Maine and all those who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Lynds. Ron's family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Hertler, Carol Johnson, PA, and all the oncology nurses at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta for all their special care. Also Dr. Thomas Keating and all the nurses of the Hospice and Palliative Care of MaineGeneral Medical Center and HealthReach. He loved you all. Ron was a member of the First Congregational Church of North Anson. His family wishes to thank Pastor Dave Walz, Art Rudman and all the church family for all their prayers and support over the past two years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to HealthReach Hospice, P.O.Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828. At Ron's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Private interment will be in the spring at the Athearn Cemetery in Anson. Cremation arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St. Madison.
