Description	:	Helen Blanche Norris Steffens was born to Fred W. Norris and Laura Mae Conley Norris on Dec. 29,1815 at Greenwood. She passed away on Feb. 18, 2004 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 88 years, one month and 18 days. She was one of three children in the family. Helen graduated from Plainview High School in 1933, and for a few years following her graduation worked in Lincoln as a housekeeper. She was married to Virgil A. She was one of three children in the family. Helen graduated from Plainview High School in 1933, and for a few years following her graduation worked in Lincoln as a housekeeper. She was married to Virgil A. Steffens of Strang on Nov.5, 1940, and to them two daughters were born. The resided near Martland before moving to Geneva. After Virgil's death, Helen continued to live at home until failing health required that she enter the Long Term Care at the Fillmore County Hospital in October of 1999. Helen was a faithful wife and was a very private person whose primary interest was in her two daughters. Her life revolved around the home and while health permitted, she enjoyed yard work and quilting. She usually had one or more pets whose companionship she treasured. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; by parents Fred and Laura Norris; sisters Lela Nash and Chelsea Kaiser. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Ira) Steiger; and Carol Steffens; her step-grandchildren, Kelly Sejkora and Kristopher Steiger and their families; one niece and one nephew.
