David Crawford and the Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals. She moved with her family to McCook, where she graduated from McCook High School and then attended McCook Junior College. She married Lowell Beckenhauer on Feb. 16, 1935, at West Point. They lived in San Jose and then moved to Chico, Calif., before moving back to Norfolk in 1949, where she was a homemaker and raised her children. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and she served on various boards. She was a member of The Does and helped serve Meals on Wheels. Helen is survived by her four children, Doris Johnston and husband Robert of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Donna Knapp and husband Otto of Madison, Lowell Jr. "Buster" and wife Linda of Norfolk and Tom and his wife Ann of Puyallup, Wash., 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Beckenhauer Sr., on Aug. 1, 2008, two sisters and one great-grandchild.
