Description	:	Helen Wassenaar, 91, of Sioux Center died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Sioux Center Community Hospital Nursing Facility. Services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. John Witvliet officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Sioux Center. Helen was born Jan. 30, 1909, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Lane and Barbara (Visser) De Stigter. She married Benjamin Wassenaar on Oct. 23, 1929, in Sioux Center. Her husband died Dec. 21, 1994. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Ron Wenger of Belding, Mich, and Carole and Ken Leys of Belhaven, N.C.; four sons, Adelbcrt of Grand Rapids, Mich., Leon and his wife Carol of Hebron. Neb., Allen and his wife Carol of Denver and Norman of El Centra, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leonard De Stigter of Sioux Center, Cornelius De Stigter of Levonia, Mich, and Melvin De Stigter of Grand Rapids; and three sisters, Alyda Kosters of Sioux enter, Florence Kalsbeek of Orange City and Lucille Poel of Grand Rapids. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Gilbert, Tunis and Peter De Stigter; and a sister, Ada Schoo. Memorials may be directed to Hull Western Christian High School and Sioux Center Christian School. Sioux County Capital 2000-11-30.
