Description	:	Peter De Stigter, 80, of Sioux Center died Monday, September 25, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. John Witvliet officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Family visitation is Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Vander Ploeg Chapel in Sioux Center. De Stigter was born August 1, 1920. in Sioux Center to Lane and Barbara (Visser) De Stigter. He married Myna Vis on May 19, 1948, at Hull. He was in the construction business and was a partner in De Stigter Brothers Construction Company. He served in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a lifetime member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and baseball. Survivors include his wife, of Sioux Center; children and their spouses, Harlan and Jolene De Stigter of Orange City, Ronald De Stigter of Canton, South Dakota, Winette and John McEwen of Smithers, British Columbia, Jerome De Stigter of Sioux Center, Berwyn and Beth De Stigter of Lennox, South Cakota, Douglas De Stigter of Sioux Center and Beverly and Don Engler of Fountain Hills, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Leonard De Stigter, Alyda Kosters and Helen Wassenaar, all of Sioux Center, Florence Kalsbeek of Orange City, Cornelius De Stigter of Livonia, Michigan, and Melvin De Stigter and Lucille Poel, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild; three brothers, William, Gilbert and Tunis; and one sister, Ada Schoo. Sioux Center News 2000-09-27.
