Helen died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Butte Health Care Center, Butte, Nebraska. Helen attended and graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, Nebraska, with the Class of 1949. Read More	Helen Dorothy (Luedke) Haun, daughter of William and Sylva (Carlson) Luedke, was born November 11, 1931, at her parents home on a farm northeast of Anoka, Nebraska. Helen died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Butte Health Care Center, Butte, Nebraska. Helen attended and graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, Nebraska, with the Class of 1949. On September 14, 1951, she was married to Harold D. Haun at the United Methodist Church, Spencer, Nebraska. To this union, six children were born: Pamela Dee; Larry Dean; Patricia Sue; Roger Ray; Robert Charles; and William Floyd. Patricia Ann Wilkey joined their family in 1971. In the later years of Helen's life, her failing health prevented her from living her life to a fullness she desired, but it wasn't always so. In Helen's earlier years, there were no such restrictions, and she lived a life full of family, church, and activity. Helen's greatest joy was her family. She loved being a wife to Harold, was unabashedly proud of her children and grandchildren, and was devoted to her parents and an infinite family of relatives. Helen was active in the Methodist Church, singing in the choir, helping with Sunday School and Bible School, decorating the church, and serving as church treasurer. It seemed as though anytime the church doors were open, Helen's family was always there. As a member of the United Methodist Women, she served for many years as the local president, secretary, and District Treasurer. Helen was active in the "Just Us Girls" 4-H club for many years, leading the girls singing group, which won a purple ribbon at the Nebraska State Fair in 1965. She was an active member of the local fraternal organization of The Eastern Star and the entire community of Spencer during her lifetime. Helen truly enjoyed her friends, neighbors, and anyone else she might meet, always a very friendly, outgoing person with a keen sense of humor and generous heart. She was known for helping those in need, giving of her time and resources to those less fortunate than herself. We, the family and friends of Helen, are grateful for all of the good memories we have of Helen, and her example of a life well-lived. She was truly a blessing to her family and friends. Helen was preceded in death by: parents, William and Sylva Luedke; son, Larry Haun; brother, Donovan Luedke and his wife June (Hines) Luedke; and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Ericson) Luedke, wife of Helen's brother Charles. Funeral services for Helen D. Haun, were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Spencer, Nebraska. The Reverends Seung Ho Park and Ray Hagberg were co-officiators, with burial in the Union Cemetery, Spencer, Nebraska.
