She passed away one day after her 103rd birthday.Helen graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1925.On April 26, 1930, in Ottumwa, she married Bert Thomson, to whom she was married 67 years. Bert preceded her in death on June 3, 1997.Besides teaching in Jefferson County for a few years, she and Bert lived for 42 years in Baudette, Minn., where Helen worked as a bookkeeper for Farrell Hardware.She loved reading, sewing and oil painting. Helen was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Van Peebler, Wanda McNeil, John Peebler, Hazel Allison and Edith Whisler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield; Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Interment will be in the Fell Cemetery near Libertyville.The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service.Memorials may be made to the Fairfield Public Library, Faith United Methodist Church or Iowa Hospice and mailed to Bob Allison, 436 E.
