Description	:	Helen I. Whitney, 82 of Central City and formerly of Fullerton died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Mrs. Whitney was born July 22, 1922 at Alliance to Hubert H. and Ruth (Orr) Forney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jerrold Hibbs of Smithfield, Marilyn and Terry Grotelueschen of Oklahoma City, and Linda and Dale Lesiak of Fullerton; a brother, Don Forney of Lakeside; and a sister, Doris Winter of Rushville. Mrs. Whitney was born July 22, 1922 at Alliance to Hubert H. and Ruth (Orr) Forney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jerrold Hibbs of Smithfield, Marilyn and Terry Grotelueschen of Oklahoma City, and Linda and Dale Lesiak of Fullerton; a brother, Don Forney of Lakeside; and a sister, Doris Winter of Rushville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitney grew up on a ranch near Lakeside and attended country schools and graduated from Rushville High School. Following graduation, she worked at the bank there. On June 16, 1941, she married Fred Whitney at Fullerton. They lived in Michigan and Florida while Fred served in the military. Following his service duty, they moved to the family farm at Fullerton. They farmed until 1992, when they retired and moved into Fullerton. The past year, she has resided at Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fullerton, Southside Circle Extension Club and a United Methodist Women Circle. They received Nebraska's Pioneer Farm Award in 1998.
