Helen was born December 3, 1907, near Little Sioux, Iowa, the daughter of Vard and Marea (Crabb) McAdon. She graduated from Little Sioux High School in 1926. On April 5, 1926, she married Amos C Barnett at Harlan, Iowa. The couple farmed at Little Sioux, Castana, and Ute before moving to a farm near Soldier in 1958. Survivors include three daughters, Aretha Stevens of Mondamin, Iowa, Sharon and her husband, Roger Melby of Castana, Iowa and Karen Barnett of Sacramento, Ca.; two sons, Darrell Barnett and his wife, Gloria and Kent Barnett and his wife Zeta, all of Soldier, Iowa; thirteem grandchildren; one step-grandson; and twenty one great grandchildren; and two sisters, Velora Scott of Whiting, Iowa and Fama McCandless of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Don and Kent; two sisters, Faye and Larada; a son-in-law, Lawrence Stevens; and a grandson, Rodney Barnett. Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2001, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Donald R Ludwick officiating. INterment was in St, Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
