Helen Irene Gindelsperger, was born November 23, 1916, the youngest daughter of Ralph and Abbie Olive (Devers) Gindelsperger in Nodaway, Iowa. Helen attended school in Nodaway, graduating with the class of 1934. On December 2, 1936, Helen was united in marriage to Marvin Val Roberts in Collins, Iowa. The couple first farmed in the Mt. Etna area, then purchased a farm north of Nodaway in 1941. In March of 1947, their marriage was blessed with the birth of their son, Garry. Helen dedicated her life to caring for her family and maintaining the farm home. She ws a member of the Nodaway United Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Women's group. Helen waas known throughout the neighborhood for her talented methodist of preparing the venison and other game and fish brought home by Marvin and Garry. She enjoyed cooking and serving her guests a beautifully set table. No mean was complete without a square of Jello salad and dessert. She strongly believed in education ad support her grandchildren. Her favorite holiday was Memorial Day. In 1981, Marvin and Helen build a new home and retired to Villisca. Helen led a quiet and comfortable life in her own home surrounded by the people she loved and things she treasured. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin in 1997; two brothers, Harry and Clifford and wife Ruby, her dear aunt, Ida Devers and her beloved niece Donna Burt and husband Ray. Surviving Helen are her son, Garry and wife, Colene, two granddaughters, Stacey of Ames and Erin of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Lois Young of Corning and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be directed to the Nodaway United Methodist Church. Service arrangements were handled by the Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca.
