She was born July 12, 1920, at North Platte to Silas Legrand and Cleo Hink Priest. She spent her childhood in the Sandhills in the Tryon area and graduated from North Platte High School. Helen married Arvid Melden Branting Jr. Oct. 5, 1945, in North Platte, where they made their home. She took in ironing and worked at home. She was born July 12, 1920, at North Platte to Silas Legrand and Cleo Hink Priest. She spent her childhood in the Sandhills in the Tryon area and graduated from North Platte High School. Helen married Arvid Melden Branting Jr. Oct. 5, 1945, in North Platte, where they made their home. She took in ironing and worked at home. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, letter writing, cooking, preparing meals, and growing plants and flowers and working in her garden.She was a member of the North Platte Berean Church and had been active in the nursery and involved with AWANA Club. She enjoyed her church.Survivors include son Harold M. "Harry" (Susie) Branting of North Platte; sister Martha Gilpin of Spiro, Okla.; brothers Herman (Edith) Priest of Anaheim, Calif., and Leonard Priest of Independence, Mo.; sister-in-law F. Arlene Sukraw of North Platte; brother-in-law Hollis Branting of North Platte; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Melden, daughter Glennis V. Branting, and her parents.Services will be Feb. 20 at the North Platte Berean Church. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery. The North Platte Bulletin Feb 18,2004
