Kirk, 89 of Waterloo died Unity Point Health ‑ Allen Hospital on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. She was born on March 19, 1924 in Keokuk, IA, daughter of Bert and Alda Mae Garrett Knowler. She graduated from Barnes City High School in 1941 and attended Gates Business College. She married Clayton L. Kirk May 29, 1943 in Oskaloosa. He died February 22, 2003. She was a bookkeeper for John Rooff and Sons Construction from 1952 to 1975. She then was activity coordinator for Parkview Gardens for 7 years retiring in 1982 to care for her husband. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish where she was a member of St. Ellen's Circle and organized the bazaar for three years. She was a 50‑year member of Order of the Eastern Star and member of Phi Tau Omega (Kappa Nu) Chapter. She is survived by her daughters: Carol Houk and Helen (Robert) Hill, both of Waterloo, IA. Five grandchildren: Andrea (Robert III) Houk, John (Laura) Cummings, Stephen (Cheri) Cummings, Jennifer (Robert) Drobinski, Jessica (Tom) Gallagher. Ten great grandchildren: James and Katharine Cummings; Daniel Cummings; Ania, Emily, Abigail, Ellie Grace and Alina Drobinski; and Samuel and Finnegan Gallagher. Sister‑in‑law: Lois Knowler, Oskaloosa, IA. She is preceded in death by her brothers Orville, Clifford, Earl, and Robert Knowler.
