Description	:	Robert L. Knowler, the son of Bert F. and Alda Mae Garrett Knowler, was born on Friday, January 2, 1920 at Delta, Iowa. He graduated from the Barnes City High School with the class of 1939. On November 19, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lois Reynolds at Oskaloosa. Together they farmed for many years in the Lacey area, and moved into Oskaloosa in 1986. Read More	Robert L. Knowler, the son of Bert F. and Alda Mae Garrett Knowler, was born on Friday, January 2, 1920 at Delta, Iowa. He graduated from the Barnes City High School with the class of 1939. On November 19, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lois Reynolds at Oskaloosa. Together they farmed for many years in the Lacey area, and moved into Oskaloosa in 1986. He was a very active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa; as well as a member of the Oskaloosa Kiwanis Club, the Mahaska County Farm Bureau, the Amateur Ham Radio Club in Oskaloosa, and Men With Vision of the World Gospel Mission. Robert was a former member of Gideon's International; the Soil Conservation Board; and the New Sharon Flying Club. On Saturday afternoon, April 1, 2000, Robert died at the Maahska County Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 30 days. He is survived by his wife, Lois of Oskaloosa; a daughter and her husband: Lynn Ann and Al Muir of Morrison, Illinois; 2 granddaughters: Sasha Kamper and Wendi Anne Muir; and a sister and her husband: Lucille and Clayton Kirk of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers: Orville, Clifford, and Earl Knowler. Funeral Services for Robert were held in the Bates Funeral Chapel, Oskaloosa, Iowa on Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gary Smith and Rev. Ralph Sprunk presiding.
