Description	:	Helen M. Sugden, 95 years of age, of Tecumseh, Nebraska formerly of Sterling died at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006. She was born on January 26, 1910 on a farm near Nehawka, Nebraska. She attended rural elementary and Nehawka Consolidated High School in Cass County and later graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln in 1934. Sugden, 95 years of age, of Tecumseh, Nebraska formerly of Sterling died at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006. She was born on January 26, 1910 on a farm near Nehawka, Nebraska. She attended rural elementary and Nehawka Consolidated High School in Cass County and later graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln in 1934. She became a member of the United Methodist Church on Easter Sunday 1926 and had been active in teaching Sunday School and also in the quilting group of the church. She taught six years in rural schools in Cheyenne, Hayes and Otoe Counties, alternating her teaching years with attendance at Nebraska Wesleyan. She was married to John Sugden on May 26, 1937 and they lived and farmed near Tecumseh and Sterling for ten years before purchasing a farm near Adams, Nebraska in 1947. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sterling and of the United Methodist Women. In the fall of 1979, they moved to Sterling for their retirement years. She was a former member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed being with her family, reading, sewing and gardening. Survivors include her husband John of Tecumseh, Nebraska. Three sons, Donald Sugden and his wife Jean and Darrell Sugden all of Adams, Nebraska and Duane Sugden and his wife Rosie of Sterling, Nebraska. Two daughters, Joanne Recker of Beatrice, Nebraska and Marilyn Scheinost and her husband Robert of Lincoln, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Three sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Behrns of Bellevue, Nebraska, Pauline Dirksen of Tecumseh, Nebraska and Eileen Bruns and her husband Don of Ellicott City, Maryland. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Lena Jorgensen Behrns, one brother Leslie Behrns, one sister Florence Cooper, one brother-in-law Alan Cooper and one son-in-law, Robert Recker. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Sterling, Nebraska with Rev. Evie Gulachi-Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery of Sterling, Nebraska. A family prayer service will be held 10:15 A.M. Friday in the basement of the church. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church with Zink-Fox Funeral Home in charge. The family will meet and greet friends at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling, Nebraska until 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening and then on Friday at the church one hour preceding the services.
