Description	:	John T. Sugden, 96 years of age, of Tecumseh, Nebraska formerly of Sterling, Nebraska, died at the Johnson County Hospital Sunday night, February 19, 2006. He was born April 24, 1909 near Burr, Nebraska and in 1919 he moved with his family to a farm south of Sterling. Read More	John T. Sugden, 96 years of age, of Tecumseh, Nebraska formerly of Sterling, Nebraska, died at the Johnson County Hospital Sunday night, February 19, 2006. He was born April 24, 1909 near Burr, Nebraska and in 1919 he moved with his family to a farm south of Sterling. He attended rural school near Burr and Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School in 1929. He married Helen Behrns on May 26, 1937 and they lived and farmed near Tecumseh and Sterling for ten years before purchasing a farm near Adams in 1947. In the fall of 1979, they moved to Sterling for their retirement years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sterling and a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. Survivors include three sons, Donald Sugden and his wife Jean and Darrell Sugden all of Adams, Nebraska and Duane Sugden and his wife Rosie of Sterling, Nebraska. Two daughters, Joanne Recker of Beatrice, Nebraska and Marilyn Scheinost and her husband Robert of Lincoln, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Pauline Dirksen of Tecumseh, Nebraska and Eileen Bruns and her husband Donald of Ellicott City, Maryland. One sister-in-law, Anna Marie Behrns of Bellevue, Nebraska. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Wagner Sugden, his wife, Helen who died on January 17, 2006, one brother Elwin Sugden, one sister,Thelma Showalter Ostrander, one son-in-law, Robert Recker and two brothers-in-law, Dick Dirksen and Earl Showalter. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, February 23, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Sterling, Nebraska with Rev. Evie Gulachi-Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling, Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Thursday morning in the basement of the church. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church of Sterling with Zink-Fox Funeral Home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling from 5:00 P.M. Tuesday until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening and then at the church on Thursday one hour preceding the service. The family will meet and greet friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling, Nebraska. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is also available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
