She was born Sept. 4, 1913, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leroy and Blanche (Roush) Petit. In 1923, her family moved to Chanute, where her father was superintendent of schools for 26 years. She attended Park College in Parkville, MO, and earned a liberal arts degree from Kansas University in 1936. Wilson, 87, Bloomington, Illinois, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. She was born Sept. 4, 1913, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leroy and Blanche (Roush) Petit. In 1923, her family moved to Chanute, where her father was superintendent of schools for 26 years. She attended Park College in Parkville, MO, and earned a liberal arts degree from Kansas University in 1936. She married John Howard Wilson in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Jan. 30, 1937, and he died in 1991. She worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville, OK in 1937, and moved to Chanute in 1946, where she and her husband owned and operated a business for 25 years. She moved to Bloomington, IL in 1991. While in Chanute she was a member of Order of Eastern Star, AAUW and DAR. She was active in the Presbyterian church, serving as an elder, clerk of session, and president of the women's association. She also volunteered more than 2,000 hours at the hospital. She also was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority at Kansas University. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Paul T. Petit. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Toland of Bloomington, IL, and Barbara Doan of Kerrville, TX; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for Friday at Westminster Village Social Center in Bloomington, Illinois, with the Rev. Mark Hughey officiating. Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas, at a later date. ***********************************
