Helen Vetter was born on July 19, 1926, on a farm southwest of Linton, the daughter of John and Katherine (Wald) Schumacher. She grew up on a farm and attended a rural school in that area. On June 20, 1946, she married Johnnie Vetter at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Linton. They lived on a farm southwest of Linton until moving to Bismarck in 1954. Helen was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was a volunteer at the Bismarck Senior Center and the Abused Adult Resource Center. She loved to quilt, crochet, paint ceramics and enjoyed playing cards. She was always happy to see her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Johnnie; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Joletta, Du-Wayne and Barb, and Kenneth and Coleen, all of Bismarck; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Martin and Baltzer Schumacher; and three sisters, Magdalena Deisz, Rosalie Mattern and Philipine Nagel. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John, Sebastian, Joseph and Frank; and four sisters, Katherine, Mary, Elizabeth and Frances. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
