Description	:	Rosalie Mattern, 95, of Strasburg, ND, died March 14, 2007 at the Strasburg Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, March 17, 2007 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg with the Rev Leonard Eckroth and Rev. Al Leary officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation at the Myers Funeral Home. Rosalie was born August 1, 1911, on a farm near Linton, ND, the daughter of John and Katherine (Wald) Schumacher. Rosalie married Joe Mattern on October 13, 1931 at St. Bernhard's Catholic Church. They farmed three miles south of Strasburg until 1954 when they built their house in town and continued to farm for a few more years. Rosalie was a member of St. Mary's Society. Rosalie had many talents. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, crocheting and quilting. She made many blankets and a lot of things with beads. She especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. Rosalie was one of the first cooks at the Strasburg Care Center. She also took care of her brother Joe after their mother died. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Rosemary & Tom Schaefbauer of Strasburg, ND; seven grandchildren: Kenny, Jimmy, Steve, Sheila, Terry, Tommy and Rosie; 18 great grandchildren and one sister, Phillipina Nagel of Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2004, one grandson, Patrick Joseph Schaefbauer; seven brothers and six sisters.
