She had previously been a four year resident of Commonwealth Senior Living and resident of Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home for a short time. Born April 23, 1934 in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Anna Mae (Springer) Griffith. Helen retired from London Fog of Boonsboro, MD in 1995 after 15 years as a press operator. She also worked as a factory worker for Hanover Shoes in Middletown, MD from 1964 through 1980. She was a dedicated, longtime member of the Boonsboro Family Worship Center Church of God. She enjoyed being a homemaker and kept a strict cleaning schedule on her spotless home. She always looked forward to her regularly scheduled hair appointments at Sherry’s Beauty Salon in Boonsboro. Around town, she could be recognized as the soft spoken, petite lady in a nicely pressed suit adorned by a beautiful brooch and well-groomed hair everywhere she went. In her early years of marriage, she enjoyed living on a small farm with her husband and in-laws, Sylvester “John” and Bernice Easterday, on Clevelandtown Road in Boonsboro. She was a loving and dedicated wife to her husband, Richard “Dick” L. Easterday, Sr., whom she married on December 22, 1951, until his death in 2014. She is survived by one son, Richard “Dickie” L. Easterday, Jr., and wife, Sue, of Hagerstown; one sister, Elsie Flook, and husband, Clarence, of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Sharon L. Bell, and husband, John, of Hagerstown; two great-grandchildren, Cody A. Delauney, and wife, Katie, of Boonsboro, and Laura E. Bell, of Hagerstown; two great-great-granddaughters, Lila M. Bell and Emersyn A. Delauney; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Powell, Martha Guessford, Pauline Ecker, Della Long, Margaret Martz, and Nellie Griffith; and four brothers, Albert, Howard “Buck”, Elmer “Pete”, and Silas “Buddy” Griffith. A funeral ceremony will be held 11AM on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the Boonsboro Family Worship Center parking lot, 7605 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Jack C. Payne, Jr. will officiate. Private burial will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery. There will be a drive through viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
