Description	:	Helena Adela Kahrs was born December 26, 1903 in West Point, Nebraska, the ninth of 12 children born to Henry and Helena Grosc Einemann. She passed away December 27, 1991 at Yuma District Hospital, at the age of 88 years. Helena attended school in the rural West Point area. As a teenager Helena moved to Lodgepole, Nebraska. On October 4, 1922 Helena married Henry Kahrs in Wyerts, Nebraska. To this union three children, Walter, Margaret and Marcine, were born. She passed away December 27, 1991 at Yuma District Hospital, at the age of 88 years. Helena attended school in the rural West Point area. As a teenager Helena moved to Lodgepole, Nebraska. On October 4, 1922 Helena married Henry Kahrs in Wyerts, Nebraska. To this union three children, Walter, Margaret and Marcine, were born. For a brief period of time the family lived in San Antonio and Littlefield, Texas and then moved to Chappel, Nebraska. In 1942 they made their home in the Lone Star community near Otis, until moving to Sterling in 1972. Helena entered Yuma Life Care Center on November 21, 1991. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Sterling. Helena enjoyed quality, tatting and embroidery work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry and son, Walter. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Rhoades and husband Raymond of Otis and Marcine Todd of Elkhart, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Bernice Kahrs of Otis; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Alice Hartwig of Pender, Nebraska, Malvena Hansen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Bertha Lawrence and husband Willis of Brunswick, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and friends [some survivor names omitted]. Funeral service was held Monday, December 30, 1991 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Otis with Rev. Robert L. Miller officiating. Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery in Sterling with arrangements by Spellman-Schmidt-Baucke Mortuary of Yuma.—Yuma Pioneer
