Description	:	Mrs. John Bentjen, who had been a sufferer for some time with a malady from which death offered the only relief, passed away Thursday, August 2, in Los Angeles, where she and Mr. Bentjen had made their home since the spring of 1927. Read More	Mrs. John Bentjen, who had been a sufferer for some time with a malady from which death offered the only relief, passed away Thursday, August 2, in Los Angeles, where she and Mr. Bentjen had made their home since the spring of 1927. Lena Bentjen had been with her father and mother for several weeks. Helena Raeben was born at Oldenburg, Germany, April 28, 1868. She came to America in 1896 and the same year was married to John Bentjen at Pender, Neb. Soon after their marriage they moved to Boone county where they had since made their home. Mr. and Mrs. Bentjen went to California March 7, 1927, on account of the latter’s health. Seven children were born into this family: Ellen, John, Frieda, William, Lena and Herman. One child died in infancy. Mrs. Bentjen was a member of the Lutheran church, having been confirmed in 1882 in Germany. She was one of the older members of the Zion Lutheran church. The body was brought to Albion for interment. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Beckmann. Floral offerings were profuse, evidencing the respect and esteem in which the deceased was held here. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – August 9, 1928)
