Description	:	Lena Beenders, Pioneer dies Born on a farm near Minonk, Ill., she came to Nebraska with her parents when she was 7 years old to a farm 10 miles northwest of Crete in Seward Co. She attended Camden school, the first school in Seward County. When she was about 12 years old the family moved to Colby, Kansas and she remembered seeing the first train come into Colby. She returned to Crete in 1889, and she was married in 1890 to Oltman Busboom, and they farmed on West Blue near Milford. Two of her five children... Read More	Lena Beenders, Pioneer dies Born on a farm near Minonk, Ill., she came to Nebraska with her parents when she was 7 years old to a farm 10 miles northwest of Crete in Seward Co. She attended Camden school, the first school in Seward County. When she was about 12 years old the family moved to Colby, Kansas and she remembered seeing the first train come into Colby. She returned to Crete in 1889, and she was married in 1890 to Oltman Busboom, and they farmed on West Blue near Milford. Two of her five children died in infancy. The couple moved in 1914 to a ranch in Garfield county where her husband died the same year. She continued to live there until 1923 when she returned to Crete. In 1926 she married W. K. Beenders who died in the fall of 1929. She continued to make her home in Crete until her death, Febr. 22, 1960. Her survivors include three children: John and Ben of Elkhorn, Marie Webb, Seattle Wash. and a step-daughter Anna Holz, Norfolk, three grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Marie Broer, two brothers and a sister, and three step children, Conrad and Frank Busboom and Grace Danekas.
