Description	:	Helena Toews Regehr was born August 21, 1893, to Jacob B. and Margaretha Toews at Hochstadt, Manitoba. She passed away May 14, 1989, reaching the age of ninety-five. She spent her childhood years in the Hochstadt area. At the age of sixteen she was converted. Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized on March 31, 1910, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, remaining faithful to her vows to the end. Read More	Helena Toews Regehr was born August 21, 1893, to Jacob B. and Margaretha Toews at Hochstadt, Manitoba. She passed away May 14, 1989, reaching the age of ninety-five. She spent her childhood years in the Hochstadt area. At the age of sixteen she was converted. Upon the confession of her faith she was baptized on March 31, 1910, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, remaining faithful to her vows to the end. She moved to Alberta with her parents in the fall of 1910. She was married to Abraham L. Regehr on March 8, 1914, at Linden, Alberta. They lived at Hochstadt, Manitoba, until the fall of 1916 when they moved with their two little boys to the Swalwell-Linden area, where they bought a farm. Here they spent most of their active years. In the 1920s they opened their home and took in several families from Russia, resulting in close friendships. In 1957 they moved into Linden where they enjoyed their retirement years. They shared life together for sixty-two years. Her husband passed away in 1976, leaving her lonely. She was tenderly cared for in the Linden Nursing Home for nearly twelve years. She leaves to mourn: 6 sons and 2 daughters: Dave and Frances, Linden, Alberta; daughter-in-law, Eva Regehr, Mt. Lehman, British Columbia; Henry and Joan, Linden, Alberta; Susie and Norman Klassen, Linden, Alberta; Bernhard and Linda, Moundridge, Kansas; Margaret and Leon Unruh, Abbotsford, British Columbia; Abe and Josie, Delisle, Saskatchewan; Walter and Lydda, Linden, Alberta; and Herb and Florence, Linden, Alberta; 58 grandchildren, 139 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Susie Reimer, Linden, Alberta. Preceding her in death were: her husband, three daughters; Anna, Margaret, and Helen; one son, Jacob; two grandsons, one grandson-in-law, two great-grandsons, her parents, five sisters, and four brothers. Funeral services were held on May 20, 1989, at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Linden, Alberta. The local ministers were in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
