Description	:	Hendrik Hendrikson Fadnes was born on the Fadnes farm near Evanger Norway, the son of Hendrik Olson Fadnes and Kari Jacobsdatter Exe. He was the seventh of the ten children and he was the fourth eldest surviving son. His baptismal record that indicates he was baptized in Evanger on the 4th Sunday after Easter, May 12, 1816, and states he was born on April 25th. Read More	Hendrik Hendrikson Fadnes was born on the Fadnes farm near Evanger Norway, the son of Hendrik Olson Fadnes and Kari Jacobsdatter Exe. He was the seventh of the ten children and he was the fourth eldest surviving son. His baptismal record that indicates he was baptized in Evanger on the 4th Sunday after Easter, May 12, 1816, and states he was born on April 25th. However, his tombstone shows his birth date as April 23rd. On Jun 9, 1843, at the age of 26, Henrik Henrikson Fadnes married Kari Olsdatter Gietle. Henrik and Kari's first child, Ole, was born on the Fadnes farm on Mar 18, 1844. They emigrated out of the Voss parish from the Fadnes farm in May 1845 and entered this country in New York in June. Kari died aboard ship after giving birth to their second son, Henrik, born Jun 10, 1845. She was buried at sea. From New York, Hendrik and the children made their way, probably via ship to Milwaukee and then by wagon or on foot to Koshkonong Prairie, Christiana Township, Dane County Wisconsin. He again married in 1851 to Anna Knudsdatter Langeland at Koshkonong Lutheran Church. They had one son, Knud in 1852 in Wiscosnin before moving to Pleasant Township in Winnesheik County Iowa. Six more children were born there. (Knut Hendrickson, Jacob Hendrickson Fadnes, Nels or Nils Hendrickson Fadness, John who died as a child, Kari Hendrickson Halvorson, Ole Hendrickson (called Little Ole because he had an older half-brother named Ole), and Sigri (Sarah) Hendrickson). Hendrik was a prosperous farmer, owning several hundred acres in Pleasant Township. Once in America, he became known as Hendrik Hendrikson. However, some of his children chose to use Fadnes or Fadness as their surname. This is likely the reason Fadnes is shown at the base of his tombstone. The Big Canoe Church record has his date of death as March 20, but the tombstone has March 18. He died from influenza.
