Description	:	H.J. Rexwinkel, one of the oldest pioneers of this section, and nearly the last of his generation, died early Tuesday morning at his home in Alton. He had reached the age of 93 years over a month ago. Rexwinkel, one of the oldest pioneers of this section, and nearly the last of his generation, died early Tuesday morning at his home in Alton. He had reached the age of 93 years over a month ago. Although in failing health for the past months, and even years, his remarkable vitality and interest in life have carried him to an age seldom attained. He was born in Varseveld, Holland in 1834 and came to the United States in 1865. He lived in Albany, N.Y., for two years where was married to Miss Dena J. Kleinehesselink and then went west to Waupon, Wisconsin. In the year 1873 the family came by covered wagon to Sioux County to live on the farm purchased by Mr. Rexwinkel south of Orange City. Here they passed through the trials of pioneer days, reamaining on the farm until about 20 years ago when they retired and moved to Alton. Mrs. Rexwinkel died in the years 1899. The children surviving are Gerrit Rexwinkel, Waupon, Wis., Mrs. Dora Vrieze and Joe Rexwinkel of Alton; Will Rexwinkel of Newkirk, Mrs. Herman Riedeman, Alton, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive the venerable man. His was a noble character, disciplined and strengthened by the difficulties and hardships of pioneer life. Funeral services are to be held this Thursday at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the First Reformed Church, in charge of Rev. Euwema. Mr. Gerrit Rexwinkel of Waupon, the only son who lives at a distance, and Will Riedeman, Mr. Rexwinkel's grandson arrived Wednesday from Waupon, while other relatives were expected Thursday morning. Dores Riedeman, also a grandson, has arrived home from Iowa City.
