The funeral of Mrs. Eggink and her daughter was held last Wednesday afternoon from the undertaking parlors. Rev. Stegeman had charge. The funeral of Mr. Eggink took place Monday afternoon from the First Reformed church. Rev. Stegeman preached in the Holland tongue and Rev. Neil Stewart in the English. These funerals were the saddest occasions among the many that this community has been called upon to witness Mrs. Eggink will he remembered by all who knew her as a Christian in every phase of life, a devoted wife and mother, a friend to all in need of help or a kind word, possessing a sunny disposition and a trusting, hopeful spirit.Her daughter was just budding into young womanhood and was blessed with many virtues inherited from her mother. Mrs. Eggink was born in the Netherlands on April 19, 1880. When about two years of age she came with her parents to Sioux county, locating near Sioux Center and Middleburg. At the age of twenty she was united in marriage to Henry Walraven. Four children were to this union, Alden, Nicholas, Coba and John. Mr. Walraven died in July, 1913. In the fall of 1914 she was united in marriage to Henry Eggink, and one child, Clara Christina, was born to them. Coba Walraven was born in Sioux county and was 11 yearsand 7 months old at the time of her death. She was a dutiful daughter and a great help to her mother. Henry Eggink was well liked by all who knew him. He was a good neighbor, a kind husband and an affectionate father and will be missed by many friends. To the orphaned children who are left fatherless and motherless the community extends a sympathetic hand, but words fail when we face such heart-breaking scenes.May the remembrance of the kind and loving parents be treasured by them and may it lead to inspire each other.
