Marion Klaaren) will have charge of the services and burial will be made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral home of Sheldon. Mr. Eggink passed away at the Sioux Center Community hospital Tuesday morning following a long illness. He had been hospitalized for about a week. Survivors include his wife, the former Effie Vander Brake; two sons, Clarence of Seattle, WA, and Rev. Henry of Storm Lake; three daughters, Christina of San Diego, Johanna (Mrs. Julius DeWit) of Canby, MN, and Mabel (Mrs. Clarence Vander Brake) of Portland, OR. Mr. Eggink was born in Holland in 1873 and immigrated to the U.S. and Sioux County with his parents in 1885 at the age of 12. He grew to young manhood in this vicinity and was married to Lena Boeyink here in 1901. She passed away here in December, 1936, and two years later, in December 1938, Mr. Eggink was married to Mrs. Wm. Roos nee Effie Vander Brake. After moving to Sioux Center in 1894, he worked for a time on farms in the area and then accepted a position in the Dick Vande Berg elevator, a job he held until 1900. That year he purchased the Cargill elevator here and operated that business for seven years. In 1907 he sold the elevator and purchased the implement business of Albert Slob which he operated for eight years as dealer for John Deere and International implements. In 1915 Mr. Eggink sold his implement business and went into the real estate, a profession in which he remained active until a few years prior to his passing. He had been a stockholder in the First National Bank here since 1910 and had been a member of the bank's board of directors from 1913 until his retirement this summer. Sioux Center News 1964-08-13.
