Description	:	Heinrich Kreoger (Kroger, Kroeger) was born in Holstein, Germany where he was employed as a coachman for a prominent family. Henrich and Dora A came to America in 1882 (1900 census) and lived first in Davenport, Iowa where he was employed in a lumber mill. They next lived north of Kearney where Heinrich learned there was homestead land available in southeast Custer County. Read More	Heinrich Kreoger (Kroger, Kroeger) was born in Holstein, Germany where he was employed as a coachman for a prominent family. Henrich and Dora A came to America in 1882 (1900 census) and lived first in Davenport, Iowa where he was employed in a lumber mill. They next lived north of Kearney where Heinrich learned there was homestead land available in southeast Custer County. He made the 2 day trip to Grand Island by horse and wagon to file his claim on May 22, 1884 on the SE4 of Section 33 of Township 13N (Elk Creek) R17W of Custer County. He made a filing fee of $14. The Jilg family helped Henry brake the sod for his house and other buildings. The family moved into their new home on October 1, 1884. Henry's brother, Fred who was born in Holstein, was also listed with the family on the 1885 Nebraska census. Henry and Dora had three children: William, born in 1884; Frank, born in 1889; and John, born in 1891. The brothers received their education in the upper Black Hill Creek rural school. William married Mary Wiesner and their children were Bessie and Bertha. Frank married Anna Gottwald and their children were Edwin, Edtih and Dorothy. John married Tracy Gottwald and their children were Irene, Raymond, Glenn, and Margaret. Henry and Dora retired to Pleasanton leaving the farming to their sons, Frank and John. William moved to Litchfield and engaged in well drilling, repair, and operated a hardward store.
