L .Chandler was eminent, a wave of sadness, and of sympathy for the family went over the community when it was know that she had passed away at the hospital at about one o'clock Saturday, March 16, following an illness from heart disease, covering a period of about two years. She suffered greatly at times, especially during the last weeks of her life, but bore her suffering with christian faith and fortitude, and was ready and willing for the end to come. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, the pastor, Rev F. F. Travis, preaching the sermon from the text chosen by Mrs. Chandler, John 14-2. She also indicated the songs she wished to have sung, namely: "It is Well With My Soul," "The Home of the Soul," "In That City," and "There is a Land of Pure Delight," a quartet sang the three songs, John Caine singing "In That City" as a solo. Mrs Chandler's request was that her four sons and two sons-in-law should act as pall bearers, and carry her body to its last resting place and her wishes were carried out. Henrietta L Dunn, the daughter of M.r and Mrs. Joseph Dunn, was born October 21, 1847, at Ararat, Penn. She received her education in such schools as the times afforded, and for a time taught school. On December first, 1867, at Ararat, she was united in marriage with Abner L. Chandler, who survives. Immediately following their marriage they went to Libertyville, Ill, where they resided until they moved to this county, which was in 1872. Mrs. Chandler was the mother of ten children, four of who preceded her to the other shore. Six are left to mourn a true and loving mother. The family resided on the farm southeast of town until about ten years ago, when they moved to Odebolt. Mrs. Chandler has been active in all lines of church work and in civic affairs and as long as her health permitted was a regular attendant at all church services. She was of a quiet, unassuming disposition, but was a woman of sterling worth, and one who could always be depended on when duty called. She has been greatly missed during her illness and will be missed in the days to come. Her children had all been to see her during the last seizure, and were all here for the funeral. They are Rev S. L. Chandler at present of Camp Grant, Rockford, Ill, Mrs. Charles Smith of Clinton township, Philip L. of Pender, Nebr, Arthur G. of Lyons, Nebr, Mrs S. V. Buehler of this township and Forest H. of Sanborn. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr and Mrs Chandler, it will be remembered, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December first, 1917, an event which she greatly enjoyed. Members of the family present for the funeral were: Rev Sidney L. Chandler of Camp Grant, Ill, his wife and daughter Lyle of Mt Vernon, Mr and Mrs Charles Smith, son Lawrence and daughter Esther of Odebolt, and son Hobart of Des Moines, Mrs and Mrs Philip Chandler and sons Keith and Kenneth of Pender, Nebr, Mrs Arthur Chandler of Lyons, Neb, Mr and Mrs S V Buehler and daughters Mary, Fern, and Olive of Odebolt, Forrest H Chandler of Sanborn, Mr and Mrs Fay C. Gilbert of Odebolt, and Harry A. Chandler of Sioux City. Old friends from a distance were: A. L. Mercer, Aurora, Ill, A. B. Smith of Mount Vernon, Mr and Mrs I. N. Mead of Schaller.
