Description	:	The funeral for Henry A. Stouffer, 86, of Fremont, formerly of North Bend, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont. He was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Ulysses to John and Zilla (Wynegar) Stouffer. Read More	The funeral for Henry A. Stouffer, 86, of Fremont, formerly of North Bend, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont. He was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Ulysses to John and Zilla (Wynegar) Stouffer. He grew up in Ulysses and was a 1937 graduate of Ulysses High School. He farmed until entering the U.S. Army during World War II from Oct. 30, 1942, to Oct. 15, 1945, and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatre. He returned to Ulysses for a short time and then moved to Tekamah, where he farmed for a couple of years. He lived at Decatur two years and then lived south of Dodge, where he farmed until moving to North Bend in 1976. He retired from farming in 1978 and worked at the North Bend Popcorn Plant until it closed. He married Gloria Laursen on Dec. 15, 1941, in Tekamah. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Snyder until it closed, and then transferred his membership to St. John's Lutheran Church at Ridgeley, near Scribner. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8223 at North Bend and a member of American Legion Post 122 at Dodge. He enjoyed playing cards. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Richard (and wife, Jacque) Stouffer of Howells; three daughters, Hazel (Mrs. Gene) Coufal of Fremont, Judy S. (Mrs. Graham) Smoot of Clearmount, Fla., and Patricia Stouffer of Thornton, Colo.; a brother, Roy Stouffer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter. Dr. Nicki McIntyre, vicar, will officiate Wednesday's service. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of VFW Post 8223 of North Bend and American Legion Post 122 of Dodge. Pallbearers will be Jim and Raymond Modlin, Rick Brune, Cory Coufal, Josh and Stan Hart, Douglas Stouffer and Jarett and Tyler Presswood. The family prefers memorials be given to North Bend Rescue Squad, North Bend/Morse Bluff Area Veterans Memorial Park and to the Dodge American Legion Post.
