Description	:	Henry Alston Ray, 74, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Henry Doc Ray and the late Lucille Benenhaley Ray. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, the Disabled American Veterans, and Riverside Hunting Club. He was formerly employed with the civil service at Shaw Air Force Base and was a bailiff with the Sumter County courts. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Ray and his wife, Sarah, of Sumter, and Buck Ray and his wife, Ashley, of West Columbia; three daughters, Janice Cotton and her husband, Richard, of Dalzell, Becky Anderson and her husband, Greg, and Tammy Stevens and her husband, Gary, all of Sumter; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Faye D'Angelo of Dalzell and Ruby Carter of Sumter; and a brother, Wilson Ray of Dalzell. He was preceded in death by a son, Glen "Bubba" Ray; and a grandchild, Jessica M. Ray. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Long Branch Baptist Church with Dr. Carroll Waddell and the Rev. Sim Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Long Branch Baptist Church cemetery.
