Description	:	Mr. Henry A. Schnieder was born at Hallam, August 8, 1884. He was the son of Fred Schnieder and of his wife, whose maiden name was Wilhelmina Kelpien. In infancy he was baptized by the pastor of the former so-called Stockfeld Lutheran church. He was confirmed in the Hallam Congregational church and taken into the membership of this church by Rev. Mr. Schnieder died September 25,... Read More	Mr. Henry A. Schnieder was born at Hallam, August 8, 1884. He was the son of Fred Schnieder and of his wife, whose maiden name was Wilhelmina Kelpien. In infancy he was baptized by the pastor of the former so-called Stockfeld Lutheran church. He was confirmed in the Hallam Congregational church and taken into the membership of this church by Rev. R. Hilkerbaeumer on April 2, 1899. On February 1, 1911 he was united in marriage with Miss Adelheld Dorthea Prange. Two children were born to them: Vera Martha and Orin Dietrich. Mr. Schnieder died September 25, 1946 at the age of 62 years, 1 month, and 17 days. His parents and four brothers preceded him in death; two of the brothers in childhood. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Vera M. Beebe of Minden, Iowa; one son, Orin D., teacher at Genoa; one brother, Fred C., of Haxtun, Colorado; and three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Meyer of Lincoln; Mrs. Dora Sykes of Hallam; and Mrs. Emilia Lauterbach of Lincoln. Mr. Schnieder was born on the home place immediately east of Hallam and lived there all his life. He was active in his church and was chairman of the building committee at the time the present edifice was built. His generous contributions made it possible to clear up the indebtedness on the church. He had been ailing for about 12 years. On August 14 he was taken to a Lincoln hospital where he stayed for two weeks. After two weeks at home he returned to the hospital on September 11 and underwent an operation on September 21. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 28 at 2 o'clock in the Congregational Church at Hallam, with the Pastor Rev. John D. Gross, officiating. A quartet consisting of Mrs. David Lanham, Mrs. Allen Luckhardt, Ernest Brunken, and Harry Haas sang, "Face to Face with Christ, my Savior," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Edwin Schnieder was at the piano. Interment was in the Hallam cemetery. Source: The Crete News, October 10, 1946
