Description	:	Orin Schnieder, 80, of Hallam, died Sunday, November 23, 1997 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. He was born November 11, 1917 to Henry and Dora (Prange) Schnieder in Lancaster County. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of science in Vocational Agriculture. He married Ruth Goodwin on June 13, 1948 in Genoa. They lived in Genoa and Hallam. Orin was a vocational agriculture instructor at North Loup in 1941-1942 and Genoa from 1946 to 1969. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor of science in Vocational Agriculture. He married Ruth Goodwin on June 13, 1948 in Genoa. They lived in Genoa and Hallam. Orin was a vocational agriculture instructor at North Loup in 1941-1942 and Genoa from 1946 to 1969. He worked for the City and County Sanitation in Lancaster County from 1969 to 1983. He was a Staff Sgt. with U.S. Army Intelligence during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Hallam Legion, VFW, AGR Fraternity and former Hallam Firefighter. He was a former state president of the Ag Teachers Association and was a former Hallam Legion 294 treasurer. He was a member of the Hallam United Church of Christ where he was a historian, former trustee and choir member. He is survived by his son, Ron Schnieder of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Steve McGill of Waverly; sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Vern Beebe of Minden, Iowa; nephew, Kent Beebe of Minden, Iowa; and niece, Annelle Beebe of Ventura, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth. Services were November 26 at Hallam Congregational United Church of Christ in Hallam with the Rev. Daniel Davis Sr. officiating. Military Honors were by Hallam Legion Post 294. Organist was Virginia Schuerman. Interment was in the Hallam Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kent Beebe, Leon Wittstruck, Leon Engelbart, Roger Wall, Harlan Busch, and Dale Severin. Source: The Crete News, December 3, 1997
