Known and respected of all his death brought forth the sypmpathy and kindly expressions of a multitude of friends. He had been failing steadily for the past few months and his death was therefore no surprise. He had lived a long life. He had eighty-four years and eleven days to the span of his life. But length of years only was not the merit of his existence. His life was filled with goodness, the goodness of a great heart expressed in faithful service. Henry Brenner was born in Lancaster county, Penn., Mar. 28, 1832. At the age of 21 he united with a church of the Evangelical denomination and then began the long and steady prosecution of religious work which practically was not terminated until a few weeks past. Up to the present year he had conducted a class in the Congregational Sunday School. He was twice married. He lost his first wife two years after marriage and their child died in infancy. In 1857 he married Susan Yordy of Freeport, Ill. Eleven children were born. Six died when little children. Five grew to maturity and they with the aged wife and the four brothers and two sisters of the deceased survive him. His children are: Mrs. J. W. Feldman (Vina), Mrs. Charles (Alice) Webber, Wilton and Charles Brenner of this city and Mrs. George Hoey (*Laura) of Beloit, Wisconsin. His brothers and sisters are David and John of Canton; Taylor of Miller of S.D.; Jacob of Manhattan, Kansas; Mrs. Lyons of Inwood, Iowa and Mrs. Susan Gemmill of Shannon, Illinois. The grandchildren of this father in Israel number thirty-two and the great grandchildren thirty . . .
