Description	:	Obituary for David Brennner, Sioux Valley News (Canton, SD), 7 Dec 1922 David Brenner was born in Lancaster (Sic) county, Penn., July 16th, 1845. At the age of eight years, his parents moved to Freeport, Ill. He is one of a family of eleven children, and grew to young manhood on a farm near Shannon, Ill. In 1864 he enlisted in Co. E. 11th regular Ill. Cavalry, from which service he was mustered out at Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 30th, 1885. On February 13, 1872 he was united in marriage to Samantha A. At the age of eight years, his parents moved to Freeport, Ill. He is one of a family of eleven children, and grew to young manhood on a farm near Shannon, Ill. In 1864 he enlisted in Co. E. 11th regular Ill. Cavalry, from which service he was mustered out at Memphis, Tenn., Sept. 30th, 1885. On February 13, 1872 he was united in marriage to Samantha A. Bollinger, and in 1875 he moved to Sioux county, IA. Three children were born to this union, but one son survies the father, George Brenner of Seattle, Wash., the mother having died December 27th, 1882. On October 13th, 1886, he was united in marriage to Emma R. Kornder, and to this union two children were born, Orville Brenner of this city, and Ivan Brenner of Long Beach, Calif. On December 2nd, 1902, he moved from his home in Sioux County, Ia., to Canton, where he has since made his home. Besides his wife and three sons, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Kate Lyon of Inwood, Iowa and one brother, J. W. Brenner of this city. He was a member of Silver Star lodge No. 4 A. F. and A. M., also a member of Siroc Chapter No. 4 of Canton. He was a member of Gen. Lyon Post No. 11, of which he was commander at the time of his death, December 2nd, 1922. Funeral services were held from the house on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, under united auspices of the Masonic and American Legion organizations. The Masonic ritual was read at the house, Rev. Kearton acting as chaplain, Rev. Rowden read a biographical sketch, and offered a prayer. The American Legion took charge of the services at the grave and interment was made at Forest Hill cemetery. Those from abroad in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Schafer from Wausaw, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. John Kornder from Delmont, S.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Helder from Inwood, Iowa.
