He was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Ottumwa to Fred and Zoe Guingnon [sic] Moyer. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he was an employee of John Morrell and Company, retiring in 1971. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army. He married Alma G. Swanson in 1946, in Lancaster, Mo. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Richard of Ottumwa and Kenneth of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Dianne Martin of Cedar Rapids, Sandy Davis of Ottumwa and Jacqueline Davis of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson. The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Wilbert Trusheim of Willard Street Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. O.B. Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion will be in charge of military rites at the grave. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Tony and Rob Moyer, Loren and Timmy Martin, Bob Pilcher and Richard Wemer. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
