Pallbearers were August Koehlmoos, Wisner; and Adolph and Fred Koehlmoos and Emil Gemelke, all of Pilger; and Edwin Daum of Stanton: and Wilbert Stuthman, Wayne. Interment was at the Pilger cemetery. Obituary Henry Ernst Carl Stuthman, Sr., son of Dietrich F. Stuthman and Marie Biermann, was born on November 15, 1877 at Heemsen Hannover. Germany, and departed this life at the Lutheran Community Hospital in Norfolk on Sunday afternoon of June 26. 1960, having attained an age of 82 years, 7 months and 11 days. Mr. Stuthman was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in the town of his birth. To the profession of this church he adhered throughout his life, being a faithful and active member of St John's Lutheran Church in Pilger at the time of his passing. He served as an elder of the church and as its delegate at certain church conventions at different times In the year of 1891, at the age of 14 he migrated to America, locating with his sister. Mrs. Mary Thies in Omaha. Nebr. Here he grew to manhood and later worked with his brother in Hot Springs. S D for a number of years. Upon his return from South Dakota he worked in the vicinity of Pilger, Nebr. While living there he was united in marriage with Miss Dorothea Koehlmoos of Pilger. The ceremony was performed on Feb. 14. 1902 in Trinity Lutheran Church. Altona in Wayne County by the late Rev F. G. Schaller. This marriage was blessed with ten children, five sons and five daughters. After their marriage they moved on a farm north of Pilger where they resided until 1946. when he retired from the farm and moved into Pilger where they have lived ever since. He served on the election board in the Pilger precinct for a number of years. On February 14. 1952. they were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary and in February of 1957 their 55th wedding anniversary. Besides many friends, close associates and a host of relatives, he leaves to mourn his faithful wife, Mrs. Dorothea Stuthman, five sons, Carl and Henry Stuthman. Jr., both of Pilger; Ernest and Arnold, both of Wisner, and Albert of West Point; five daughters, Mrs. Elsie Tietjen and Mrs. Alma Stradley, both of Wayne; Mrs. Olga Dreyer and Mrs. Clara Stunkel, both of Norfolk, and Mrs. Leona Nelson of Wakefield. There are nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
