His obituary below is from the "Nebraska Signal" published in Geneva (Fillmore County), Nebraska on 2 Dec 1948, page 11: Henry Kleinemeier Funeral services for Henry Kleinemeier were held at Zion Lutheran church south of Tobias, Tuesday afternoon, November 23, with Rev. E. G. Winkler in charge. A short service was held first at the W. A. Philippi funeral home at Ohiowa where the body lay practically one week pending the funeral and burial which was interfered with by a snow storm. Road conditions with slush and snow, and the uncertainty of the time of the services kept many acquaintances from the funeral and burial. Vocal numbers "O How Blest Are Ye Whose Toils Are Ended," "Asleep in Jesus" and "Who Knows when Death May Overtake Me" were rendered by the congregation and "For Me to Live is Jesus" was sung at the committal service. The pastor's text was Hebrew 9, 27. The casket bearers were three step-sons, Herman, Otto and Adolph Bartels, and grandsons Vernon and Everett Bartels and Victor Brauer. Henry Carl Kleinemeier was born July 15, 1869, in Germany. He passed away at the Lynch hospital at Fairbury, November 17, 1948, around 3 a.m. at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 2 days. He was christened July 26 the year of his birth. He came from Germany to America when a young boy and was confirmed in the faith of his parents, March 18, 1883, in the Ohiowa Lutheran church, which was then a country charge, Rev. Wilholm Thole being pastor. The Kleinemeier family were early residents of Thayer and Fillmore counties, and the greater part of Mr. Kleinemeier's life was spent in Fillmore county, the past four decades in Ohiowa. He was a farmer and after his retirement enjoyed a drive to the country when it was possible. March 3 1910, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Bartels at the Tobias Zion Lutheran church. They moved to Ohiowa October 6, 1919. Mr. Kleimemeier was known for his diligence in everything he undertook and in spite of his years and ill health of late, he enjoyed maintaining his home and working in his garden or on the lawn. The task of planting and watering trees and flowers, aside from a garden, stand as a living monument to his endeavors. He became a member of the Zion Lutheran church and continued his membership, attending its services as much as possible until his age interfered, but he held fast to the truths of the Gospel. His written request was for his funeral rites to be from this church with interment in the new church cemetery. His wife assed away June 26, 1936 leaving him aIone, but close to his stepson, Herman Bartels and wife who administered in manv ways to his comfort, taking him into their home several times when he was physically unable to stay alone. His last illness began October 8 and he went to their home. From there he was taken to the hospital at Fairbury, October 15, where they visited him weekly, as did his other step-sons and step-daughter. Survivors are Mrs. Marie Kleinemeier, sister-in-law living at Daykin, a nephew, William G. Kleinemeier at Fairbury, nieces, Mrs. Anna Fullerton of Cody, Neb; Mrs. Elsie Haake of Willamina, Ore.; Mrs. Helen Law of Hebron, Mrs. Erna Potts of Weeping Water, and step-sons, Herman Bartels of Ohiowa, Otto Bartels and Adolph Bartels of Tobias, a step-daughter, Mrs. Walter Bringewatt of Alexandria, and a large circle of friends.
