Description	:	CALDWELL, H.C. - H.C. Caldwell died Tuesday evening about 7 o'clock of appendicitis at his home in the northeast part of town. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.A. Smith and the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery under the auspices of the Woodmen of the Word lodge. Mr. Caldwell was born near Warrensburg, Mo. Smith and the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery under the auspices of the Woodmen of the Word lodge. Mr. Caldwell was born near Warrensburg, Mo. September 7, 1851 and about the year 1877 removed to Texas where he remained until last spring when the family came to Springdale to make their home. They came here from Colorado City, the former home of J.H. Fletcher of this place, who for ten years was engaged in the mercantile business with Mr. Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was first taken ill on the 15th inst. and gradually grew worse. As a last resort he was operated upon early Tuesday morning but even this could not save his life. We understand he has suffered more or less with appendicitis for the past two years but otherwise appeared to be strong and vigorous and in prefect health. Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and a member of the W. of the W. and I.O.O.F. fraternities. He is survived by a wife and six children, five daughters and a son. One daughter, Mrs. Ruby Culpepper, resides at Colorado City and she came in Friday night, all being present when their father passed away. Mr. Caldwell also has a number of brothers and sisters living at Warrensburg, Mo. During his short residence in Springdale Mr. Caldwell made friends of all with whom he came in contact and impressed everyone as a true man in every sense of the word. There is universal regret at his untimely death and the grief stricken family has the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
