Read More	Garden County News (Oshkosh, Nebraska), Feb. 13, 1986, Page 9 Henry Clayton West was born April 18, 1919, in Lewellen, Nebraska, the son of George Amos and Ethel Anna (Brunt) West. He was educated in District #38, a rural school north of Lewellen. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. He had fought on two battle fronts and was seriously wounded in France. He had been in failing health for the past 15 years and was hospitalized in the Veteran's Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the past six weeks. It was there he passed away Thursday, February 6, 1986, at the age of 66 years, nine months, and 18 days. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 1986, in the Holechek Funeral Home, Oshkosh, Nebraska, with Rev. DeWayne Dunwoody officiating. Special music was provided by Linda Cheney and Georgia Bitten-house. Selections were "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Military services were conducted by Oshkosh VFW Post #5379. Pallbearers were Welby Anderson, Robert Tapp, Dick Armstrong, Don Fischer, Ron Dennis Miller. Burial was in the Ash Hollow Cemetery, Lewellen, Nebraska, under the direction of Holechek Funeral Home. A Memorial Fund has been established. He is survived by his mother, Ethel A. West of Lewellen, Nebraska; a brother: Arnold West of Sweetwater, Wyoming; and three sisters: Opal Orr of Torrington, Wyoming, Anna Mae Lane, Oshkosh, Nebraska, and Ruth Reeves, Lewellen, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, and two half-sisters.
