At the time of his passing he was 77 years of age. He was born in Courtland County, New York, April 25, 1854. He came with his parents to Jackson County in 1856, and two years later to Jones County, where the family settled in Center Junction. Mr. Collier was married to Susan Jane Baldwin. January 13, 1885 in Jones County, Their home was made on a farm two miles south of Center Junction. Here their five children were born. Elva, Fred, Mable, Blanche and Lloyd. After retirement from the farm the home was made in Center Junction., Mrs. Collier died four yeas ago, and since that time Mr. Collier lived with the family of his daughter Mable. Both Mr. & Mrs. Collier became members of the Methodist Episcopal church of Center Junction more than thirty years ago. The former served his church loyally and well in many capacities, and was on the board of stewards for many years. The only surviving member of Mr. Collier's family is a half-sister, Mrs. William Preston of Center Junction. His own children are Mrs. William Hanson Mrs. Edward Tomlinson and Mrs. William Meade of Center Junction. Fred of Walla Walla, Washington, and Lloyd of Marion. There are also fifteen grandchildren surviving Mr. Collier. The funeral services were conducted last Saturday afternoon by Rev. G.H. Goodrick, pastor of the Center Junction Methodist Episcopal church, assisted by Rev. Frank C. Worcester, former pastor. During the services hymns were sung by Mesdames F.C. Worcester and Robert Meade, with Miss Mary Leech at the piano. Interment was made in North Madison cemetery.
